Shiatsu is now a well established bodywork in the West. It uses applied pressure, mainly through the therapists hands, to relieve, release and restore energy flows through the body. This can be experienced as relief from muscle tension or a more internal sense of shift. Either way the person feels greater equilibrium and ease:
'I've had all sorts of treatments, and paid an awful lot of money for some of them, but your treatment touched me in a way that others just haven't and for the first time in several years I'm feeling something that is close to happy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.' Peter P-R.
Jo frequently incorporates shintai and seitai-related techniques into her shiatsu, especially where structural issues are involved:
'... after that one session my back-pain is so much better I won't need that second session.' Sajid S.
